My Current Employment

I designed a pop up display and a set of one sheets that can be quickly set up and used at to promote the charity at indoor and outdoor events.

My professional work experience has mostly been in Alberta. I reside in Edmonton. Since May 2019, under the supervision of the COO, I work for the Inner City Youth Development Association (ICYDA). I initially came aboard under a short contract during Covid. ICYDA needed a remote learning platform created and deployed to connect street youth to the charity’s independent high school when in-school learning was disrupted by public health controls. So I did that. I set up Facebook’s Workplace integrated with Office 365. Students were familiar with the conventions of Facebook as a user interface, as were teachers. Both groups took to the new platform easily. I worked with ICYDA staff and a remote Meta Workplace team located in Utah to develop and finesse the final product before launch. The school liked the end product. I was then offered a position on-staff.

Technology, Communications, Partnerships…

I split my time between managing the organization’s technology, producing communications, and coordinating fundraising/partnerships for the charity. In my communications capacity I use Adobe’s Creative Suite to develop guidelines, displays, graphics, documents, publications, online ads, photos, and video. I create content that informs, entertains and connects stakeholders on multiple platforms. My successes and accomplishments are driven by embodying and upholding values, which include creativity, integrity, inclusiveness and relevance. In this role, I manage the school’s daily social media and web content. As required, I also act as an ambassador for the school in the community, with businesses, clubs, funders, partners, influencers, and government officials. In short, I try and use my talents to support the leadership team’s daily needs, the varied needs of the overarching charity that operates the school, and the school itself.
